I sporadically clown the South just like everyone else for the garbage comin' out the durty, but right now Jeezy and T.I. got it on smash. TIP got "Whatever You Like," which is hot, but Jeezy just took his sh** to another level. A lot of these rappers is actors, but Jeezy's been holdin' us down with real talk and hood politics for years. Like many Americans though, the Obama Effect has him feeling like the time is now to spit that raw. Who knew the most on point political commentary was gonna come from the Snowman?

On both "My President" and "Crazy World," Jeezy paints the quintessential portrait of the Black South. Positives, negatives, before unspoken, it's all there. Yeah, he pushed that white, but there wasn't no time to consider the repercussions. Him and his people need to pay the bills. We've heard the story before, but Jeezy weaves the stereotypical hood story into today's political fabric seamlessly. The talking heads won't understand what he's got to say, but for people of our generation, this is our "Paint It Black." There's no hiding, there's no window dressing, and he speaks for a generation of disenfranchised Americans facing an uphill battle in today's America. Jeezy, Nas, and anyone else who's chimed in on this historic moment have shown us that there isn't one way to live this campaign. From Jeezy's eyes, Will.i.am. (not my sh**, but some people feel it), Hova, etc., most everyone in hip-hop has had their go trying to capture the moment and for me, it culminates with Jeezy.

We should have known. Where else have people in America been hit the hardest throughout history? The Field... and someone had to step up and rep for it. To me, his story is the most effective because he didn't try to be anyone but himself. He doesn't switch his style for the subject matter and presents an imperfect hood panoramic. It's something all of us can see, dissect, and understand. It's a voice and sentiment we connect to on a base level with infinite implications. In a lot of ways, it feels like Pac... R.I.P. Could be sacrilege, but I can't lie. I haven't felt like this about a track since "Me Against The World." Who cares if some people consume the gangsta shell and drop the substance? As long as My Prezident's black and his lambo's blue, I'm gonna be straight. Jeezy's imperfections make him the perfect messenger. He speaks to and reaches people no teacher, leader, or even parent could reach. This is what hip-hop is supposed to be about. He embraces his place in society as a trapper, but instead of shying away from brass tacks policy issues, he takes them head on and doesn't look back. His confidence in the message and story will inspire hip-hop heads to speak out regardless of their past, demographic, socio-economic status, etc.

The news, the leaders, and the blog politik discusses policy in a sterile, emotionless, compromised way. For a lot of us not used to politics, we feel like fish out of water. Maybe we check the accent, the speak, the 59-50s, or use SAT words we have no idea how to flip, but I'll be God damn if what we have to say isn't real. No matter your background or your present state, you have an opportunity to make this country yours right now.

I still got mad hate for certain parts of American history. I can't front; I really never felt part of America, but I'm willing to put some of it in my back pocket, chalk it up to ignorance, and move forward. That's what Barack O-drama's convinced many Americans to do if he's gonna get to be the general of this sh**. A lot of America may be put off by what Jeezy or Nas have to say, but I'm glad they put it out. We can't continue thinking politics is someone else's business and that we're going to survive with another man's blue print for America. We can't just complain over bass and high hats, we need to understand that our perspectives are equally valid and demand air time. Don't get hoodwinked, it's our story, our time, and our duty. DAILY NEWS Webbie Arrested, Facing Drug Charges After High Speed Chase Published: Monday - September 15, 2008 | Comments (2) Louisiana rapper Webbie was arrested over the weekend in Mississippi after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase. According to WAFB, Webbie peeled out in his 2009 Dodge Challenger after the police tried to stop him for a traffic violation. Authorities claim that during the chase Webbie crashed into a 1999 Mercury Cougar but kept going. The police stopped to tend to the occupants of the Cougar and lost the rapper. His vehicle turned up a while later in a Wal-Mart parking lot. According to witnesses on the scene, Webbie got into another vehicle, a 1993 Ford Crown. Police later caught up to the Ford where the apprehended the rapper. The two other occupants of the Ford were not taken in. Webbie was charged with one count felony eluding, one count of driving under the influence, one misdemeanor count of marijuana, and one felony charge of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. The marijuana was found in Webbie's Challenger.

Level headedness by a robbery victim and outstanding police work by Hermitage Precinct Officer Jeb Johnston led to this afternoon’s arrest of four persons in connection with a holdup at the Suburban Lodge on Central Pike.

Eric Jones, 35, was coming out of his room when he was confronted by two men and two women who had just gotten off an elevator. Jones said the group had guns and demanded his money and wallet. Jones complied and the robbers fled to a Chevrolet Impala in the parking lot. Jones quickly ran to the street and flagged down Officer Johnston who was passing by.

Johnston immediately began following the Impala and called for backup. He tried to stop the car on Stewarts Ferry Pike near I-40. The driver refused to pull over and ultimately traveled onto the westbound lanes of I-40 and I-24. A purse containing a gun was thrown from the car prior to the Impala exiting I-24 at Spring Street. The car got caught in traffic, unsuccessfully tried to squeeze between an ambulance and guard rail, and struck both. The driver, Terry Williams, 21, fled the disabled vehicle on foot. Officers Richard Martin and Willie Reaves chased and apprehended him on the front porch of a home on Lischey Avenue. The three other occupants, two women and a man, stayed put and were taken into custody.

Williams is being charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, felony evading arrest, and misdemeanor evading arrest. He has prior convictions for attempted aggravated arson, evading arrest, aggravated trespassing and theft.

Randall Gilmore, 27, is being charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. He has prior convictions for assault, drug possession, possessing drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license,

Kelly Nicole Wood, 23, is being charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. She has prior convictions for drug possession and contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Chantell Copeland, 22, the owner of the car, is being charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. Copeland was free on bond in connection with her 2007 arrest for reckless endangerment with a weapon. She is scheduled to appear in Criminal Court on that charge tomorrow

Criminal Court Judge Randall Wyatt has issued a written order sentencing Danita Wilson, 36, the aunt of the 20-month-old, to 37 years. Wilson was convicted June 20 of aggravated child neglect, possession of drugs for resale, evidence tampering, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiring to possess drugs for resale, attempted aggravated child neglect, and reckless endangerment.

Judge Wyatt sentenced Tiffany Norman, 28, Wilson’s friend who also lived in the apartment, to 23 years. Wilson was convicted June 20 of child neglect, conspiring to possess drugs for resale, facilitating possession of drugs for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and attempted aggravated child neglect.

The investigation into this case by Youth Services detectives and the South Precinct’s Crime Suppression Unit began on March 3, 2006, when the 20-month-old was brought to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Wilson, who was caring for the child because his mother was incarcerated for a cocaine conviction, reported that he had become very sick and was suffering from apparent seizures. A drug screen performed on the boy was positive for cocaine, Ecstasy, methamphetamine, and amphetamine. The state took immediate custody of the child. He remains in a foster home and is still impacted by the effects of the drug ingestion.

On March 14, 2006, South Precinct undercover officers executed a search warrant at the apartment. Found inside were 20 grams of rock cocaine, plastic baggies commonly used for cocaine resale, and a set of electronic scales commonly used to weigh drugs.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The mother of Titans quarterback Vince Young said he indicated he doesn't want to play football and is ``hurting inside and out.''

Felicia Young said in Wednesday editions of The Tennessean that her son is tired of all the negativity he's faced after being booed during a 17-10 win Sunday over Jacksonville. On Monday, Titans coach Jeff Fisher called police to help find him.

``What would you think, if you were tired of being ridiculed and persecuted and talked about and not being treated very well, what would you do? What kind of decision would you make?'' Felicia Young said ``He may not want to deal with it (all), but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first.

``But we're not talking about football right now. We're talking about what would make him happy, and that is the most important thing.''

The phone number for Young's home is unlisted, and his agent, Major Adams, did not answer his cell phone Wednesday morning. The Titans did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press.

This isn't the first time that Young has talked of wanting to quit football. He told a reporter last spring that he thought of retiring after his rookie season, a statement he said later was taken out of context.

The No. 3 pick overall in the 2006 draft, Young won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and followed up by helping the Titans reach the playoffs last season with a 10-6 record. He has been criticized for his passing struggles, with nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 2007.

His mental state has been in question since being booed Sunday after his second interception during the Jacksonville game. He didn't want to go back into the game until prodded by Fisher.

He sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee four plays later and could be out for up to four weeks. Fisher said Tuesday night he is only ruling Young out for Sunday's game at Cincinnati.

Young didn't go to the team's offices Monday and postponed his MRI exam until Tuesday. He met with a psychologist at his home Monday along with Fisher and another team official.

Four hours of uncertainty followed Monday night when Young left his home without his phone, prompting someone at his home to call Fisher. He called police to help find the quarterback and had a meeting late Monday night with Young and police crisis negotiators at the team's headquarters.

Young later drove home.

Felicia Young said her son needs some space.

``It is hard, all he is going through right now. He's hurting inside and out,'' she told the newspaper.

``But he will be fine if people are prayerful and help my baby boy out. He is a young man. He just needs a lot of love and support.''

PROJECT SENTRY

Prosecutor Brizzi is targeting defendants who use guns in the commission of a crime, thanks to Project Sentry. GUN PROSECUTION SPECIALISTS

The Prosecutor's Office has trained deputy prosecutors who specialize in the investigation, screening and prosecution of felony gun cases. In many instances, they utilize the "Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Gun" law. A person who has been convicted of certain violent or drug-related charges cannot possess a handgun. If they do, they are subject to as much as 20 more years in prison.

In turn, the prosecutors have sponsored training sessions to improve law enforcement's initial response and evidence collection in gases to ensure the filing of stricter charges and convictions at trial.

These deputy prosecutors also staff the newly-created Night Court, which handles all new D felony and misdemeanor gun cases.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND GUNS

Indiana law (I. C. 35-47-4-6) prohibits domestic batterers from possessing guns, even in their homes. The law reads:

35-47-4-6. Possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer.

(a) A person who has been convicted of domestic battery under IC 35-42-2-1.3 and who knowingly or intentionally possesses a firearm commits unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, a Class A misdemeanor.

(b) It is a defense to a prosecution under this section that the person's right to possess a firearm has been restored under IC 3-7-13-5 or IC 33-4-5-7.

The penalty for a Class A misdemeanor is a sentence of up to one year and/or a $5,000 fine.

The Prosecutor's Office continues to charge and vigorously prosecute anyone who violates this law.
